wasting bandwidth since 2005

Well I hope everyone had a great holiday season. It’s time to get back to work here at mailhiot.com. I have been working on the rock & roll page and if you have seen there is a bunch of stuff up. Some of it still needs copy and the history has only gotten through the first drummer so bear with me there still is a lot to post. For those who have checked it out I hope you have enjoyed what’s there so far. I have a lot of comic ads ready to go also (finally) so keep an eye out for them too. And lurking right around the corner is the gallery set of the toy close-ups. So stay tuned I have tons going up. For the new year I decided to change the header photo. I figured a snap shot of the inside of my computer was appropriate. Of course now I need to decide if I want to tweak the page colors to better show off the new header. Typical of me. Enjoy!

Obviously I can not leave well enough alone. The damn site is working good and yet I keep wanting to screw with it. It’s kind of like playing the old SimCity. I got a well built city with a happy populous and all the modern conveniences I could lay in there… it’s time for a tsunami! My problem here is that I like messing with the graphics so now I have a site that will crush any dial-up in a single load. Oh well I guess have decided to cater to a broadband crowd.

After 4 months I am fairly happy. Now I just need to work on consistency. Right now Image of the Week is more like Image of every other Week. I will post tomorrow I promise. And with the thousand some odd ads that I have for some reason only 4 have made it to the gallery. I suck I know.

Good news is I have started my Rock n’ Roll page chronicling my brief career as guitar superhero. This is a work in progress but will have a ton of items up soon. I have a gallery of flyers there now and will add some demo tape recordings in the next week.

Well it seems to be going fairly smooth so far. 4.0 has been stable and fairly trouble free.

Made some more tweaks over the weekend. Added the background image and updated the gallery and audio player plugins. The audio player is giving me some stupid Java error on IE 7 but it still shows up and plays. Weird stuff. One of the new features is now volume control (see left hand side of player) which is good because if your computer volume was up fairly loud it would blast you out of your seat. And the gallery plugin is updated but seems pretty much the same. I finally finished reworking it so I could use it the way I wanted. Which leads to the next revision.

I finally have the “Great Moments in Comic Book Advertising” category set up for posts, plus a separate gallery, what took all the time, for those that just want to cruise the images. As I post more ad images it will show in the comic book ad gallery, listed in the features pages, without the copy from the post. But you will be able to view them as a larger image slide show or at their full size.

As usual what started as a quick revamp and data base upgrade turned into a major overhaul and reloading of all the source code. Upgrading the code wiped my data base so it’s ground zero for mailhiot.com once again. Well at least I got it all worked out this time and got an itch to roll along with it. I was doing some work to it so I could get back on that horse, and start posting again, even though I was a little perturbed in the fact I was having some issues with it. Well good news is in wiping everything, I got it all working. So that’s the silver lining. Look for tons of stuff coming soon to an interweb near you. I did lose all my previous posts except the last. So we will start with the last post on mailhiot.com 3.0 as you see it below. I will probably throw some of the old “Images of the Week” back up just because I like them. And a couple of you did also.
