Ah yes. Bauhaus, Sex Gang Children, and Killing Joke. Totally reminds me of the “death rockers” in my high school. Yup, I guess Pee-Chees really were West Coast. Trippy. You gotta see some of the classic hesher ones they’ve posted on the Facebook Pee-Chee page. http://www.facebook.com/PeeChee …would love to curate a collection of these and have a gallery show. Pee chee folders, I find, were o Southern California thing. A big part of my days in school in L.A. and later in S.D. now living in Houston, have used your image, as my skin for my Ipad witch has become my new folder… full of junk that must carry with me at all times… Thanks for the upload…

First of Richard, thank you for the information. It is nice to know what the situation was surrounding this photo. If you look at the rest of this series, I have been posting, I am poking fun at the multitude of beauty pageants that seemed to infiltrate the culture of the 50′s. There seems to be no subject left untouched. So yes, from today’s standards this seems unusual or weird. I am completely sympathetic to anyone who has had to be subjected to this treatment in order to be cared for. I personally can not imagine having to do so. I am not poking fun at the woman involved or the treatment she is receiving. What I did find amusing was the way they had chose to cheer her up. I imagine it would be wonderful to have lots of diversions while confined in such a manner but, this one just seemed ill conceived.
