Comic Panel Gallery.
One of the more popular collections I shared over the years was built around random, out-of-context panels from old comic books. For a while, it even became a long-running Facebook page, until Facebook did what Facebook does best and slowly sucked the fun out of managing it. What started as a simple way to share weird, funny, and interesting old comic panels turned into something that felt like it needed to be monetized, promoted, boosted, analyzed, and generally turned into work. That was never the point.
The fun of these panels is how strange they become when they are pulled away from the rest of the story. A perfectly normal moment in an old comic can suddenly feel dramatic, ridiculous, confusing, unintentionally funny, or just plain weird when it stands on its own. Sometimes it is the artwork. Sometimes it is the dialogue. Sometimes it is just the expression on a character’s face or one bizarre sentence that makes you wonder what in the world was happening on the rest of the page.
So this gallery is a place to collect those little moments again — the oddball panels, strange captions, dramatic poses, awkward lines, and tiny pieces of comic book history that become something completely different when viewed out of context.
Enjoy the weirdness.
